The Department for Transport has just announced details of the new West Midland franchise and it is not good news for prospective Stone rail passengers, claims Richard Stevens, Borough and Town councillor for Stonefield and Christchurch ward.

Stone Town Council last night agreed to write to the Department for Transport to ask that the new railway service planned to stop at Stone Station next year should be a Manchester/Birmingham service - not the proposed Crewe to Euston service.
